Inspire, influence, and make change happen.

The Radical Visionary Design Leadership Program is an experiential and immersive program that shows you what leadership means, and more importantly, what leadership feels like.

In this program you will develop a powerful and authentic vision. You’ll get support from me, my team, and your peers as you bring it to life.

You’ll discover mindsets, tools, and techniques you can use to overcome objections, influence others, and work effectively together. When change happens, you’ll uncover resistance — and that’s a great thing! We’ll teach you how to stay focused on the big picture while steadily making progress.

“I’m so glad I participated in the Radical Visionary. It was exactly what I needed to get my head in the right space as I transition into my new role.”
Carola Fellenz Thompson
Chief Experience Officer, Splunk
“Looking back, after 6 months I can see how much progress I made! Defining vision and values up front helped me empower my team collaboratively and creatively.”
Melissa Cooper
Director of User Experience, Eventbrite

If you lead a design team and secretly wonder what “leading” really means, you are in the right place.

Answers to common questions.

Who is the ideal candidate for this program?

The ideal candidate is a UX, graphic design, product or R&D professional, and is currently in a senior, manager, or director role. You’ve got 5-10 years of experience and have discovered that your awesome design skills are not helping you with the challenges you now face. Specifically, you need to develop a vision and strategic approach, mobilize and motivate others, and build productive relationships. Your biggest challenge might be that other people look to you to lead — but you don’t think of yourself as a leader.

Am I experienced enough for this program?

We don’t expect you to be fully realizing a vision, running a giant design department, or having a killer resume behind you. We assume you are part way into your career, have strong design chops but might be struggling with some other aspects of leadership and growth. You need to have a minimum of 2 years managing a team (which might mean direct reports, or it might mean you’ve been a project lead or lead an initiative — something that has given you direct experience leading others).

What if I am not already a leader?

This is a trick question. At the Radical Visionary, we believe that everyone is creative and everyone is a leader — you just may not have tapped into it yet. Leadership is an identity question — you learn whether you are a leader through trial and error. You try something and people listen and follow — or they don’t — so you try something else. Leadership is not necessarily a slot on the org chart, and you don’t necessarily need to have people reporting to you to be considered a leader.

Think about it — how many managers do you know who aren’t leaders? And how many leaders do you know that aren’t managers? Leadership is a quality that comes from within — people want to follow leaders. So, if you are looking at this program, you are a leader.
