Every week, I answer your burning questions about creative leadership. Have one you want to ask? Ask your burning leadership question!
This week’s question comes from Sarah (not me, another Sarah) and she asks:
“How do you keep a team motivated in the midst of corporate ‘goo’?”

If you are designing something complicated and you hope to have a big impact, you need the resources an organization can supply. As Gordon MacKenzie says in my favorite book about creatives in corporate life, “Orbiting the Giant Hairball,” the hairball comes with the territory.
What to do? Focus on the why, watch for emotional contagion, emphasize what’s working and don’t blow smoke up anyone’s ass.
Now you! What’s your experience?
What do you do to keep your team motivated and creative in spite of the corporate goo?
